Lake Ita

Located in Kalyarr State Conservation Area. Lake Ita is about 1100 ha in size and has important cultural and ecological values. It is a wetland typical of many fed by the lower Lachlan during medium to high flows; big enough to sustain significant ecological values and small enough to respond to the volumes that licenced environmental water can deliver. There is substantial evidence of Aboriginal cultural relationships that will serve as a benchmark for assessing restoration potential of a moderately degraded wetland. It may also provide a comparison of the relative condition between wetlands with close to natural versus those with altered flow regimes.
